Hello! My name is Alison Fulkerson. I am married to my husband, Brock. We reside in Southern Illinois with our daughter, Burke. We also have two fur children, Senko and Ollie. I am a first grade teacher, and I was a cheerleading coach for five years!
When I was in elementary school, my parents took me on my first Walt Disney World trip. But through my adulthood, this is where my favorite trips have taken place! I have been lucky enough to go every year since 2019 (twice in 2019). Of my trips that I have been on, my absolute favorites have been the first time that I took my husband with me and my girls trip that I took with my mom. My husband is the typical “country boy” and I was worried that he would be too “cool” for Disney, but he loved it! My favorite words that come out of his mouth are “I wish we were at Disney” *insert swooning sound here.* The girls trip with my mom has been another favorite of mine. It was a once in a lifetime trip for my mom and I before I got married; we had an absolute blast. We laughed, we ate, we were up from sun up to sun down, and I wore her out by showing all of the parks! It is one of my favorite memories and will be something that I will cherish forever.
People often ask me “Why do you like Disney so much?” That is such an easy question for me to answer. I always tell them, you don’t have to be Disney obsessed to enjoy Disney. Disney has something for everybody. Whether you are a rides lover, a foodie, a show lover, etc, there is something for everyone! There is no other feeling like that of arriving at a Disney destination. It is pure happiness. No cares in the world, it is just magical!
More questions I often get from others that are attending Walt Disney World are, “where do I eat?”, “what rides are a must?”, “where should we stay?” and “do I need to attend every park?” These answers depend upon the type of person, the trip that they are taking, what they like, etc.
But here are my suggestions:
“Where should we stay?” – I have stayed at multiple resorts. Art of Animation x2, Coronado Springs, Pop Century, and All Star Sports have been my recent stays. My favorite stay has been at Art of Animation, due to the skyliner access and the theming.
“Do I need to attend every park?” – That is totally up to you! If this is a once in a lifetime trip, absolutely! Do and see EVERYTHING that you can. If you are a frequent Disney parks visitor, it is totally okay to take smaller trips. I have had trips where I attended all four parks. During my last trip, I attended Magic Kingdom and Epcot. My favorite park? Epcot! Every trip this is a must for me, even though I know that this is usually a park that a lot of people skip. I would never. I love it and all that it has to offer! This is my husband’s favorite as well.
“Where do I eat?” – When I go on a trip, I usually try to balance quick service, kiosks, and sit down meals with reservations. I like to try new things, while also enjoying my favorites. Some of my favorite sit down meals include House of Blues (Disney Springs), Satu’li Canteen (AK), Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (HS), The Plaza (MK), Skippers Canteen (MK), T-Rex (Disney Springs), and Rainforest Cafe (AK and Disney Springs). As I said, I love quick service and kiosks as well. I try to try new quick service and kiosks each time, but there is one food from a kiosk that I search for every time. That is the Cream Cheese Stuffed Mickey Pretzel! The locations of these change every so often, and I scour the parks for them each time.
“What rides are a must?” – In my opinion, 95% of the rides are a must! I am a firm believer in rope dropping and closing down the park, so I can ride all that I can.
But, my favorite rides are…
MK – Splash Mountain (RIP!), Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean
Epcot- Soarin’ and Spaceship Earth
HS- Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster and Toy Story Mania (If you are a Star Wars lover, these are a must as well! Although, before I watched the movies, I still loved these rides)!
AK- Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest
