Hey everybody, my name is Tom, and I love Walt Disney World. How much? Well, for the past 23 years I’ve read, watched, studied, heard and seen anything Walt Disney World I could get my eyes on. How have I gotten to this point? Well, that’s getting ahead of myself.Let’s turn back the clock to April 1991, I was just a young boy of 7 years old, as I got off the plane in Florida for the first time I could barely contain my excitement. That night 7 year old me tossed and turned in a Ramada bed I was sharing with my 5 year old brother (My family wouldn’t be spending our trip at a Disney Resort hotel until almost two years later.) The next morning we were up bright and early for breakfast. The Disney Marketplace (now known as Downtown Disney) had a docked Tom Coombssteamboat called the Empress Lilly, as we sat down I remember the waitress telling us that some “special friends” would be joining us soon. I asked my mom who she meant, to which my mom responded with a smile on her face “I have no idea” a few minutes later the special friends arrived in the dining room, Pluto, Donald, Minnie and Mickey, Mickey Mouse. Here I am this kid of 7 about to meet a character I’ve only ever seen on TV and he was a few tables over from me. As I shook hands with him, I could feel the warmth and friendliness from the shake. This was my first taste of the quality of the Magic that Disney put into everything. Later that day we went to the Magic Kingdom and I can still remember seeing that castle for the first time. I remember hiding behind my mother as we rode through the Haunted Mansion swearing I’d never go on again(it has since become my favorite ride in the WDW resort.) First trips to Epcot (still in its post-80’s glory) and Disney-MGM studios (as it was known at the time and it wasn’t even 2 years old yet!) This was a trip I was going to remember forever.

Fast forward two years and my first trip staying in a Walt Disney World resort hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans, (before it was French Quarter.) Keep in mind, I had only heard of Disney’s Contemporary resort and Disney’s Polynesian resort, so this was news to me! This was our first time staying in a Walt Disney World hotel, but it wouldn’t be the last. Over the years, I embraced the Magic more and more. Every time I set foot on Main Street USA and see Cinderella Castle, my first thought is “I’m home”. When it comes to Walt Disney World, in the parks, I’ve seen it all and done it all. If there’s a new ride, I’ll ride it. If there’s a new show, I’ll see it. I know that they will spread their quality into every nook and cranny into every single thing they do.

Twenty Three years, countless trips and a brief college internship later and I’m still in love with the worlds. I’m finally glad to be applying my knowledge to a place where I can share the magic with others. Like I’ve said, I’ve seen it all and done it all, but not quite eaten it all! I’ve had garden fresh food with Chip & Dale and enjoyed the finest of what Hollywood has to offer with the Mouse himself.

I’ve stayed at: Disney’s Port Orleans resort, Disney’s Polynesian resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge resort (family favorite), Disney’s Coronado Springs resort, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club resort, Disney’s All Star Sports resort, Disney’s All Star Movie Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

I’m glad to be a part of a team where hopefully I can use my knowledge to contribute to the success. Thanks for letting me come aboard. Because as Walt Disney himself said: “Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it they will want to come back and see you do it again and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do.”

Making memories that last a lifetime…
